NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Samantha Bennett finished with four points as the Dartmouth women's lacrosse team fell to No. 14 Yale, 11-9, in Ivy League action on Saturday afternoon at Reese Stadium. The Big Green move to 2-5, 0-2 for the season and Yale improves to 7-2, 2-0.

Catherine Erb scored a hat-trick for the Big Green. Bennett finished with two goals while
Katina Christensen,
Maja Desmond,
Jenna Donohue, and
Lucy Murray each scored once. Bennett and Murray both had two assists to go along with their goals. On defensive side of things,
Gisele Todd finished with a season-high 12 saves.

Fallon Vaughn finished with a game-high six points for the Bulldogs after scoring three goals and assisting another three. Jenna Collignon also scored a hat-trick while Olivia Penoyer scored two and assisted two.

The Big Green jumped out to an early 2-0 lead just over five minutes into the contest. Bennett opened the scoring for the day with a solo effort after shifting and spinning her way through the Yale defense before tucking it inside the near post to put Dartmouth up 1-0. Just moments later, Erb became the latest player to get in double digits in goals this season after receiving a pass in the middle from Murray.

The Bulldogs rattled off three straight goals, coming from Collignon, Fallon Vaughn, and Taylor Lane, to take a 3-2 lead.

Bennett added her second goal of the game with just under five minutes remaining in the quarter to tie the game, 3-3. Bennett cut through the Yale defense to find an opening and fired a shot into the back of the net.

The Bulldogs scored twice in the opening few minutes of the second quarter to take a two-goal lead. Christensen got on the board shortly after to bring the deficit back down to one. Murray dumped it inside to Christensen for the quick shot, scoring her 15
th goal of the season.

Yale scored the next three to push the lead to four. Donohue scored her second goal of the season at the 4:21 mark of the second quarter. Donohue found open space in front of the goal and Dewitt provided the perfect pass inside for the quick finish.

After the Bulldogs scored to take a 9-5 lead into halftime, the Big Green scored the first goal of the second half as Erb scored her second of the afternoon. Yale scored 90 seconds later to push the lead back to four. It was back-and-forth for the rest of the quarter and the Bulldogs added one more with under 30 seconds to go until the fourth.

Erb once again scored the opening goal of the quarter, this time to complete the hat-trick. The connection of Bennett to Erb for the second straight goal cut the deficit down to four.

Time ran down in the quarter and neither team could find the back of net for the next nine minutes. Desmond scored her sixth goal of the season at the 4:26 mark after receiving a pass from
Maya Kendall just in front of goal.

Murray made it a two-goal game with 1:34 remaining, giving the Big Green the momentum swing as they looked to complete the comeback.

Dartmouth nearly added another shortly after, but Murray's effort was saved by Yale goaltender Cami Donadio.

The Big Green had a 13-11 advantage in draw controls.

Dartmouth continues its road slate on Wednesday evening with a non-conference matchup Boston College. Opening draw is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and the game will be available to stream on ACC Network Extra.
