HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth women's lacrosse team dropped its Ivy League opener to Cornell, 11-6, on Sunday afternoon at Scully-Fahey Field. The Big Green move to 2-2, 0-1 for the season while Cornell improves to 4-1, 1-0. The Big Red outscored the Big Green, 9-3, in the second half.
Katina Christensen scored twice for Dartmouth.

Boo Dewitt,
Lucy Murray, and
Jev Ward each scored once. The Big Green had seven caused turnovers, led by Desmond and Dewitt who both finished with two.
Josie Vogel finished with a hat-trick for Cornell. Caitlin Slaminko, Katie Castiello, and Maggie Pons each scored twice. Pons also had two assists to finish with four points. Shannon Brazier finished six ground balls, two caused turnovers, and two draw controls.
The Big Green jumped out to a 2-0 lead midway through the opening quarter with free-position goals from Christensen and Desmond.
Cornell answered less than a minute later to cut the deficit down to one. Dartmouth pushed the lead back to two with just under five minutes remaining in the first half. After receiving a pass from Ward, Dewitt burst forward around the Cornell defender and fired a shot to the bottom left corner for her seventh goal of the season.
The Big Red scored five unanswered goals, one in the final two minutes of the first half and four to start the third quarter, to take a 6-3 lead. Josie Vogel scored three of the five for Cornell, including two woman-up goals.
Murray scored at the 6:50 mark of the third quarter to end the Dartmouth scoring draught.
Sophia Franco made a pass down low to Murray on the run, who kept the momentum going to get around Cornell goalkeeper Ellie Horner and put it home for her fourth goal of the year.
Cornell scored five of the next seven goals to push its lead further ahead, claiming its first Ivy win of the season.
Dartmouth has a bit of a break as its next game is not until Saturday, March 18. The Big Green host Siena at Scully-Fahey Field and the game will be available to stream on ESPN+ and Stretch Internet.
Notes: Christensen's unassisted effort with 4:39 remaining in the game marked her 10
th goal of the year, making her the first Big Green player to reach double digits in goals this season.
