HANOVER, N.H. — On the same week that a pair of Dartmouth men's heavyweight rowers were named All-Americans and 19 were named Scholar-Athletes by the IRCA, fifth year
Kane Hall received an impressive honor, being named the IRCA Novice of the Year.
The honor is presented to an athlete who started one's rowing career in college and has become a top-tier athlete within their program and in the sport of men's collegiate rowing. Hall was a member of the Big Green Varsity Eight this season, which had a number of strong moments, finishing 10th in the nation.
"It has been inspiring to see Kane's consistent and continual improvement as a rower in his time at Dartmouth," said
Wyatt Allen, Betsy and Mark Gates 1959 Head Coach of Men's Heavyweight Rowing. "His quiet determination and work ethic have made him a team leader over the past few years and it was great to see him earn a seat in, and be a cornerstone of, our top crew this past spring."
Hall rowed in Dartmouth's Third Varsity Eight at the IRA National Championship in 2022 and jumped into the Varsity Eight this season. He helped the Big Green finish fifth at Eastern Sprints and 10th overall (fourth in the petite final) at IRAs. At nationals, Hall was in the four seat. Among the top highlights earlier in the season was when Hall and the Varsity Eight beat Brown to retain the Atalanta Cup.
