DURHAM, N.H.—Dartmouth women's lacrosse defeated in-state rival New Hampshire 22-3 on Wednesday evening. Senior Maya Kendall set a new Dartmouth and Ivy League single record with 23 draw controls.
The first quarter saw each team score a pair of goals as UNH scored at the 13:34 and 5:58 marks. Charolette Myers scored the first Dartmouth goal at the 12:13 mark and then Katie Barr scored with 23 seconds left to tie the game at two.
The Big Green exploded for eight goals in the second quarter while keeping the Wildcats off the board.
Barr scored her second goal of the game at the 14:41 mark, 61 seconds later, Fiona O'Keeffe made it a 4-2 game. After the first two goals of the quarter, Madeline Egan, Annie Small, Etta Coburn and Mia Puccio each scored once while Lauren Riley scored twice for the Big Green.
Dartmouth took a 10-2 lead to the locker room for halftime after outshooting UNH 23-9 and 16-5 in shots on goal.
41 seconds into the third quarter, Barr completed her first career hat-trick as she scored her third goal of the game.
The Big Green got goals from Small, Catherine Erb, F. O'Keeffe, and Samantha Bennett as they took a 17-3 lead to the fourth quarter.
Dartmouth once again did not allow New Hampshire to score in the fourth quarter as the Big Green scored five goals in the fourth.
Kate Riley opened the scoring in the fourth quarter at the 14:24 mark. Ryan Hapgood, Mia Jensen, Bennett, and F. O'Keeffe each scored in the final 8:26 of the fourth quarter to close the game.
With five minutes left in regulation Kendall lined up for the draw and won her 23rd draw of the game to set a new Dartmouth and Ivy League single game record.
13 different Big Green players scored for Dartmouth with Barr leading the way with four goals. F. O'Keeffe scored three goals while Riley, Erb, Bennett, and Small each had two goals.
Egan tallied eight points in her second collegiate game as she had one goal and seven assists.
Myers scored once while adding four assists, this season she has 13 points which is second to just Egan with 14.
Jordan Healy started in net for the Big Green and earned the win as she made four saves in the first half. Ruby Lucken made two saves in 25 minutes of play in the second half, Julia Fortier played the final five minutes and did not face a shot on goal.
Dartmouth outshot UNH 42-13 in overall shots and 29-8 in shots on goal.
The Big Green won all 27 draws in the game while also causing 13 New Hampshire turnovers.
Non-conference play continues for the Big Green on Sunday, Feb. 22 at 11 AM in Staten Island, N.Y. as they take on Wagner.
