STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.—Dartmouth women's lacrosse notched its third win of the season with a 23-2 rout of Wagner on Saturday night.
The Big Green opened the game with seven straight goals in the first 10 minutes. Kate Riley opened the scoring at the 12:40 mark and the Big Green were off and running.
Etta Coburn scored the second goal less than two minutes later before Annie Small got her first of two first quarter goals. Charlotte Myers and Caroline Kendall scored before Madeline Egan made it 7-0 at the 5:05 mark.
Wagner scored its first goal at the 3:31 mark but Samantha Bennett and Lauren Riley scored before the end of the quarter to make it a 9-1 lead after 15 minutes.
The Seahawks scored their second goal at the 13:31 mark of the second quarter but that would be the last time they'd score.
Catherine Erb scored back-to-back goals to make it an 11-2 lead. Fiona O'Keeffe scored the 12th Dartmouth goal before Myers, Small and Ryan Hapgood scored to end the half.
The Big Green led 15-2 at halftime and were outshooting Wagner 19-9 in shot attempts and 17-4 in shots on goal.
F. O'Keeffe opened the scoring for the Big Green in the third quarter just 25 seconds into the frame.
Mia Jensen, Katie Barr, Emma Goodwin, and McLean Stokes scored in the third quarter for the Big Green as they led 20-2 after three quarters of play.
Sarah Caulkins scored a pair of goals in the fourth quarter while Jensen scored the final goal with 4:05 left.
All four Dartmouth goalies played on Saturday with Ruby Lucken getting the start and win. She made three saves on five shots. Julia Fortier made the only other Dartmouth save as she played just under 12 minutes.
The Big Green outshot Wagner 24-8 in shots on goal and 30-10 in shot attempts.
Maya Kendall won 17 draw controls while Annie O'Keeffe, and L. Riley each earned one.
The Big Green forced 19 turnovers with Ellie Burdick leading the way with three caused turnovers. L. Riley, Barr, and F. O'Keeffe each had a pair of caused turnovers while Avery Coleman, Jensen, Kathryn Norton, Coburn, and Fortier each had one caused turnover.
Barr had a team high three groundballs while L. Riley, Burdick, F. O'Keeffe, and Jensen each had two.
Myers led the way offensively with six points on two goals and four assists. Erb, Barr, and Small each had three points for the Big Green as 16 different players tallied a point.
Through three games this season, the Big Green have outscored their opponents 64-11.
The Big Green open Ivy League play against Harvard on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 1 PM in Cambridge.
