HANOVER, N.H. — Dartmouth fell to UMass17-14 at Scully-Fahey Field on Tuesday despite Dartmouth have three four-point scorers.
UMass scored the first two goals of the game, but the Big Green quickly answered as Katie Barr and Samantha Bennett scored back to back to tie the game at two. The teams kept trading goals in the opening quarter as Lauren Riley and Madeline Egan each scored. The game was tied at four after the first quarter.
The second quarter saw UMass outscore the Big Green 8-3 and take a 12-7 lead into halftime. Catherine Erb and Charlotte Myers each scored early in the quarter to give the Big Green a 6-5 lead at the 13:08 mark. UMass scored eight of the nine goals as Barr scored the seventh Dartmouth goal.
Dartmouth came out of halftime firing as the Big Green scored three straight goals after UMass scored just 1:10 into the frame. Erb, Egan, and Myers scored back-to-back-to-back at the 12:13, 11:33, and 9:25 marks to make it a 13-9 UMass lead. UMass got a pair of goals back before Egan and Erb scored to close the quarter. UMass took a 15-12 lead to the fourth quarter.
Both teams scored twice in fourth quarter as the Minutewomen scored back-to-back goals to open the frame. Myers and Emma Goodwin scored at the 2:23 and 1:57 marks but the Big Green could not mount a comeback.
Egan and Myers led Dartmouth with three goals and added an assist. Barr finished the game with two goals and two assists. Erb notched a hat-trick on five shots on goal. Seven different players scored for the Big Green.
Caroline Kendall and Kathryn Norton each were credited with two caused turnovers. Annie O'Keeffe led Dartmouth with three groundballs. Maya Kendall had eight draw controls while Mia Jensen and Mia Puccio each had three.
Dartmouth now has 10 days off before facing Florida on Saturday, March 21 at Noon. The matchup will take place at Donald R. Dizney Stadium in Gainesville, Florida.
