AT DARTMOUTH ... Sophomore: Enjoyed a breakout year registering 12 games with double-figure scoring, leading the team with 34 steals and tying for the team lead in assists. Shared team's defender of the year award with co-captain John Ball. Shot lights-out from beyond the arc in a three-game span covering one week as he hit 12-of-18 shots (67 percent) while scoring 16 points against Stony Brook, 13 against Quinnipiac and 21 vs. Vermont. Was 8-for-10 from the field against UVM. Finished with 56 assists for 41 turnovers. Came off the bench in his first three games but started the rest of the way, mostly at the point. Two free throws with 19 seconds left clinched win at Princeton. Freshman: Earned Alvin F. “Doggie” Julian Award for spirit and enthusiasm. One of just two returnees to appear in all 27 games. Averaged 15.6 minutes per contest. Second on squad with 24 steals. Three times recorded three steals. Terrific touch at the foul line with 16-of-19 shooting for 84.2 percent. Poured in season-high 15 points against Radford to lead the Big Green and was in double figures again two nights later with 11 points against Colorado. Had 10 points and a season-high six assists in fifth game of his career against Hofstra. Grabbed six rebounds at Penn.
BEFORE DARTMOUTH ... Selected Mr. Basketball among Mesquite’s five high schools after averaging 15.4 points, six rebounds and three assists as a combination guard. Named the District 12 5-A MVP. Was a member of the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches All- Region first team and a Texas Magazine All-State selection. Led his district in scoring, was fifth in rebounding and sixth in assists as a senior. Selected the district defensive MVP as a junior.
OFF THE COURT ... Had internships in the procurement office at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and last spring was an intern in the office of Texas Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson.
COACH DUNN'S QUICK TAKE ... “DeVon has really matured into a good basketball player. He's also a young man who can play multiple positions. We'd rather play him at the 'two' spot so he can be more offensive-minded rather than being responsible for everybody on the court at the point position. But if need be he can swing to the point guard position. We have two or three guys who can do that this year and it's a luxury.”
DID YOU KNOW? DeVon Mosley once attended a movie with the band, P-Funk All Stars.
