Sabrina Bohrer was named assistant coach of men's heavyweight rowing on July 24, 2023 and enters her first season back at Dartmouth in 2023-24.
"I'm thrilled to welcome Sabrina back to Dartmouth as a member of the heavyweight rowing staff," said Wyatt Allen, Betsy and Mark Gates 1959 Head Coach of Men's Heavyweight Rowing. "I've had the opportunity to watch Sabrina's drive and leadership as an undergrad at Dartmouth, and I've admired her work as a coach and recruiter both at Dartmouth and Harvard Radcliffe on the women's side the past four years. Her work ethic, passion for the sport and competitive nature are second to none, and I know she will be an incredible mentor, role model, and coach for our student-athletes. I can't wait to see the positive impact she has on our student-athletes and the program moving forward."
Bohrer was previously an assistant coach for Dartmouth women's rowing for one year. Prior to that, she enjoyed a standout student-athlete career for the Big Green as a four-year member of the Varsity Eight. As a senior, she was named first team All-Ivy and Academic All-Ivy. Bohrer was a recipient of the Thaddeus Seymour Award for the student-athlete with the greatest contribution to Dartmouth Rowing, as the first woman in more than 60 years to receive the award. In her time, she also received the Julia H. Geer Award (for the most significant contribution to the team), Season of 1979 Women's Cup (for service and dedication to Dartmouth Rowing) and Martha Beattie '76 (for most outstanding freshman oarswoman).
After graduation, Bohrer served as assistant women's rowing coach at Dartmouth for the 2018-19 season. She helped the Big Green to a runner-up finish at Eastern Sprints, third-place finish at the Head of the Charles and fifth-place finish at the Ivy League Championships. Bohrer coached a pair of All-Ivy honorees and nine CRCA Scholar-Athletes.
Following her season as Dartmouth assistant coach, Bohrer went onto Harvard women's rowing where she led recruiting efforts, bringing in talented student-athletes from around the world. She coached the varsity fours to multiple top-3 finishes at Eastern Sprints and a second-place finish at the Head of the Charles. Bohrer also currently serves as a board member for the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association.Â
Bohrer is USRowing level two certified. During her time as a student-athlete, she delved into coaching at Community Rowing, Inc. in Brighton, Massachusetts, developing lesson plans for middle school athletes with no prior rowing experience. She later volunteered at Saint Ignatius Preparatory School in San Francisco, California. Bohrer went on to garner coaching experience at the Bachelors Barge Club in Philadelphia, the USRowing Olympic Development Camp in Saratoga, New York, Evergreen Rowing Camp at Dartmouth and Cambridge Boat Club in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
"Wyatt has been a mentor of mine since my time as an athlete here, and I know working alongside him and the rest of the staff will provide many opportunities for growth," said Bohrer. "I look forward to getting back on the Connecticut River with this team of hard-working individuals. Thank you, Wyatt and Dartmouth Athletics for this opportunity."
