Lauren Ayers completed her first year as an assistant coach in 2019-20 during a season shortened by COVID-19.
Ayers brings an elite level of coaching and rowing experience to the Upper Valley, having spent the 2018-19 season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Harvard lightweight men's team and sculling coach at the Riverside Boat Club.
From 2013-2016, Ayers served as the assistant/novice rowing coach at Brookline High School, single handedly directing the novice team and developing training plans to progress them to the varsity level. She was also the assistant program manager and rowing coach at Buckingham Browne & Nichols summer camps (2016) and the interim assistant lightweight women's coach at MIT (2015).
Ayers graduated from MIT in 2012, having rowed on the lightweight team all four years and for one year of graduate school. She was voted Most Inspirational Teammate for the 2011, 2012 and 2013 seasons as well as co-captain in 2012 and 2013. Ayers went on to train and compete internationally as a four-year member of the High-Performance group at Riverside Boat Club, representing the US Women's Lightweight National Team at the 2015 World Rowing Championships where she finished sixth in the LW4x.
