Boxscore
BURLINGTON, Vt. - Senior Whitney Douthett (Newtown, Pa.) scored three goals and set up four others as the No. 16 Dartmouth women's lacrosse team downed Vermont, 19-8, in a non-conference game Tuesday.
The Big Green (6-3 overall, 2-1 Ivy) won its third straight game as Douthett extended her scoring streak to 48 consecutive games, fourth longest in the nation.
Dartmouth roared to a quick 3-0 start as senior Sarah Szefi (Pittsburgh, Pa.) scored two goals in the opening three minutes. Douthett assisted on Szefi's second and then helped senior Jen Pittman (New Canaan, Conn.) for a 3-0 lead just 3:17 into the game.
Pittman went on to net four other goals as eight different Big Green players had a hand in the attack. Dartmouth led, 9-3, at halftime, and added seven unanswered goals late in the second half to put the game on ice.
"I thought our attack played very well," said Dartmouth coach Amy Patton. "We controlled the game right from the start."
Pittman's five goals were a season high as Dartmouth outshot Vermont, 28-20. In addition to Douthett with seven points, senior Margo Duke (Englewood, Colo.) contributed three goals and one assist. Szefi had three assists to go along with her two goals.
Freshman Kate Fauth (Alexandria, Va.) had a career day with one goal and three assists. Rounding out the goal scoring were sophomore Katherine Chiusano (Medford, N.J.) with three, and junior Kate Labrum (Wallingford, Pa.) with two.
In the nets, freshman Chelsea Kirk (Hunt Valley, Md.) got the win. She made two saves in the first half, before freshman Julie Wadland (Andover, Mass.) came on in the second half for three stops.
On Saturday, April 7, Dartmouth hosts Cornell at 1 p.m., starting a stretch of four straight Ivy League games.
