HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth women's rugby team pushed its record to 3-0 in Ivy play with a 23-5 win against visiting Princeton Saturday morning at Brophy Field.
Senior Yejadai Dunn led the way with two tries as the Big Green improved to 3-1 overall this season. The Tigers, playing just their second game of the fall, remain winless with the defeat.
The home team took a 13-0 lead into the intermission thanks to tries from Tatjana Toeldte and Dunn in the sixth and 19th minutes, respectively. Toeldte put the home team up a baker's dozen as the opening stanza came to an end with a penalty kick.
After Princeton's Jessica Lu put the visitors on the board in the 46th minute with a long run into a try, the Big Green answered back as the game wore on with two more tries of their own.
Camille Johnson came into the game in the second half and made an immediate impact in the first few minutes of her collegiate career, putting the ball down beyond the tryline with 59:05 showing on the clock.
Dunn put the Ivy affair away with her second try of the game in the 70th minute to put the Green up 18 with the final scoring. Dunn led the way with a game-high 10 points with Toeldte adding another eight.
“We're really happy to have the win and be 3-0 against the Ivies,” head coach Katie Dowty said afterward. “I felt we never really hit our full stride though. Princeton played well in the breakdowns and disrupted our phase play, so we have some things to work on heading into next week against a very good Harvard team.”
Dartmouth returns to action next Saturday, Oct. 17 at 1 p.m. against Harvard in the final home game of the 2015 season.
