BOSTON, Mass. – After facing Harvard and MIT in the Biglin Bowl on Saturday, the Dartmouth lightweight rowing team returned to the Charles River on Sunday to face Columbia in the Subin Cup. The location changed at the last minute due to poor conditions on the Connecticut River.
The Lions swept all four races to claim the cup, winning the event for the third consecutive year. The Big Green won three in a row from 2010 to 2012.
Dartmouth's first Varsity 8 crew took to the water first, rowing a 6:34.20 to finish behind Columbia with its time of 6:21.10. The second Varsity 8 race was the closest, with the Lions clocking a 6:27.80 and the Green logging a 6:32.60.
The visitors entered their third and fourth Varsity 8 boats in the final event of the day. Columbia finished with a time of 6:40.70, Dartmouth's third Varsity 8 rowed a 6:56.20 and its fourth Varsity 8 raced to a 7:20.30.
Next up for the Big Green will be the Durand Cup against Yale, which will take place in Derby, Conn. next Saturday, April 18.
