Big Green Women Host Big Red for Parents' Cup

HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth women's rowing will host Cornell for the Parents' Cup on Saturday, racing on the Connecticut River for the only time this season.

The Parents' Cup, which is in its 17th year of existence, was first held on May 6, 2000, when the Big Green took home the cup for the first time. Before 2000, dual races between the two schools often included a third competitor, but since the Cup was first presented, participation has been limited to just the Big Green and Big Red. Dartmouth has taken home the cup nine times since 1998, but had a five-year winning streak cut short during the 2011 season.

Since that time, Cornell has won three of the last four Parents' Cups, with Dartmouth halting that three-race streak at the 2014 event. The Big Red won last year's cup by finishing first in the Varsity 8.

The day's festivities will begin at 9 a.m. with the racing of the first Varsity 8, during which the Parents' Cup will be on the line. Dartmouth will also race the second Varsity (9:30 a.m.), Varsity 4A (10 a.m.) and B (10:30 a.m.) and third Varsity (10:45 a.m.) throughout the morning, sharing water time with the men's lightweight team, who will also be racing against Cornell. The cup will be presented to the winner at 11:45 a.m.

Fans are asked to park at the Dartmouth Day Care Center (1 Reservoir Road, Hanover, N.H.) and there will be a shuttle for all spectators to the race. No parking or drop-off is available at the finish line. For more information, click here.

On Sunday, the Big Green will head to Worcester, Massachusetts, for the Eastern Sprints Regatta. Last season, Dartmouth advanced four boats to the Grand Final and one to the Petite Final and were awarded second place with 108 points, finishing behind Radcliffe with 136.
