WORCESTER, Mass. – The Dartmouth heavyweight rowing team opened its spring season in Worcester Mass. against Holy Cross, Columbia and MIT.

The Big Green won both the Varsity 8 and Second Varsity 8 where they had one boat competing in each race. Dartmouth had two boats in the Varsity 4 and finished first and second and did the same in the third Varsity 8.

In the Varsity 8, the Big Green came in first (6:02.1), finishing more than four seconds ahead of second place Columbia.

The second Varsity 8 (6:02.32) also beat out Columbia by more than seven seconds.

The Dartmouth Varsity 4 A boat dominated the race (6:50.4), while the Dartmouth B boat came in second (7:08.66), edging MIT by less than a second.
Â
Finally, the Dartmouth Varsity A (6:02.5) and B (6:03.68) boats ran away with the third Varsity 8, taking first and second place.

The Big Green are back in action on Saturday at Yale for the Olympic Axe.
