BOSTON, Mass. – The Dartmouth lightweight rowing team opened the 2022-23 season at the Head of the Charles regatta over the weekend. The Big Green had entries in Championship Single and Doubles, Lightweight Fours and Lightweight Eights.
Â
On Saturday,
Jack Costello and
Jack Stone represented Dartmouth in the Men's Championship Doubles, finishing in ninth place with a time of 17:19.566.
Cooper Tuckerman competed in the Championship Single, finishing second overall with a time of 18:04.600, and was the fastest American lightweight sculler of the day.
Â
"The Championship Single and Double are premier events at the Head of the Charles. The Jacks placing in the top half, a little over a minute behind the United States 2x that won the B final at the world championships last month, is a result to be proud of, and I am thrilled they can leave Boston with a medal as the first-place collegiate entry," said interim head coach
Trevor Michelson. "For
Cooper Tuckerman, his second-place finish is a testament to the hard work he has put in over the past few years. To finish as the top American lightweight sculler at the regatta is icing on the cake. I look forward to getting all three of these athletes back into eights this spring!"
