FLYING OUT WEST
The Dartmouth women's lacrosse team flies out west to California to take on San Diego State and USC. The Big Green take on the Aztecs on Friday evening before playing the Trojans on Monday.
BACK IN THE WIN COLUMN
Katina Christensen led all scorers with four goals while
Katie Elders also netted a hat trick as Dartmouth defeated UMass, 15-9, on a rainy Tuesday evening at Scully-Fahey Field.
Ellie Burdick tallied the first two goals of her collegiate career while
Fiona O'Keeffe and
Catherine Erb also scored twice. On the defensive side,
Reed Cole finished with three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Maja Desmond led all players with three caused turnovers.
Gisele Todd made nine saves in goal for the Big Green.
AROUND THE LEAGUE
Elders is sixth in the Ivy League in goals per game with 3.40 and is tied for eighth in points per game with 4.00.
Fiona O'Keeffe is also tied for eighth in points per game and is tied for sixth in assists per game with 2.00. Christensen is seventh in goals per game (3.25) and points per game (4.25).
Mia Puccio is currently tied for sixth in draw controls per game with 4.80. Todd is the league leader in ground balls per game (2.80) and saves per game (9.80) and is fourth in saves percentage (.471).
SCOUTING SAN DIEGO STATE
San Diego State comes into Friday's game with a 1-7 overall record. The Aztecs fell to Liberty, 20-9, on Monday afternoon in its previous outing.
Sara Toner leads the team in goals with 17 thus far. Jenna McDermott and Frankie Garcia are also in double digits for goals with 15 and 12, respectively. Kate Christos boasts a team-high six assists.
On the defensive side of the ball, Mia Kohn leads the team in caused turnovers with eight while Avery Dyer has a team-high 14 ground balls.
Caitlin Boughton and Dyer have split time in goal this season, combining to make 107 saves and have allowed 138 goals.
This will be the first meeting between the Big Green and the Aztecs.
SCOUTING USC
USC is currently 6-2 overall and will play UC Davis at home on Saturday. The Trojans are coming off a 12-7 victory over Temple last Friday.
Shelby Tilton has a team-high 22 goals with Maggie Brown not too far behind with 20. Isabelle Vitale leads in assists with 25, which ranks third nationally. Alexis Niblock leads the Trojans in ground balls (19) and caused turnovers (13).
Kait Devir has started all eight games in goal for USC and has made 33 saves to go along with a .347 save percentage.
The Big Green are 0-3 all-time against the Trojans. The two teams last played in 2017 when USC claimed a 19-8 victory over Dartmouth at Scully-Fahey Field.
