HANOVER, N.H. –Katina Christensen led all scorers with four goals while Katie Elders also netted a hat trick as the Dartmouth women's lacrosse team defeated UMass, 15-9, on a rainy Tuesday evening at Scully-Fahey Field.
Ellie Burdick tallied the first two goals of her collegiate career while Fiona O'Keeffe and Catherine Erb also scored twice. On the defensive side, Reed Cole finished with three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Maja Desmond led all players with three caused turnovers. Gisele Todd made nine saves in goal for the Big Green.
Dartmouth improves to 3-2 while UMass drops to 1-4.
"Tonight was really a team win," said Alex McFadden, the Josie Harper Head Coach of Women's Lacrosse. "We really wanted to bounce back after our game against Cornell. Both sides of the ball were working together and allowed us to find success."
Burdick and Samantha Bennett scored less than one minute apart midway through the opening quarter to put Dartmouth ahead 2-0. Lil Hancock scored the first Minutewomen goal at the 5:29 mark of the first quarter.

The Big Green scored the next five goals, coming from Elders, Annie Small, O'Keeffe, Christensen and Burdick, to take a six-goal lead early in the second frame. UMass scored with just over nine minutes left in the half to stop the Big Green scoring run.

It was a defensive battle for the remainder of the half, with neither team finding the back of the net over the final nine minutes.
The Minutewomen scored midway through the third to bring the deficit down to four. The Big Green scored seven of the net eight goals to take a commanding 14-4 lead midway through the final frame.
UMass hit a burst, scoring five goals in 1:47 of game time to cut the Dartmouth lead from 10 down to five. O'Keeffe tallied her second goal of the game and 10th of the season with under a minute remaining to end the scoring drought.
Dartmouth is on a short break for games for final exams and will resume competition next week with a trip to California to take on San Diego State on Friday, March 15 and USC on Monday, March 18.
