BOSTON, Mass. - The Boston University women's lacrosse team put
together a first-half stretch of eight unanswered goals and coasted
past No. 18 Dartmouth, 17-8, Wednesday evening.
After BU opened with two goals, Dartmouth senior Whitney Douthett (Newtown, Pa.) tallied the 100th of her collegiate career at 24:04, for a 2-1 Big Green deficit.
But the Terriers put together a 10-1 lead - including three goals by Sarah Dalton and two back-to-back by Traci Landy - with 6:32 left until halftime.
Dartmouth junior Kristen Barry (Duxbury, Mass.) broke the drought at 4:51 and senior Sarah Szefi (Pittsburgh, Pa.) scored before the half, but the Big Green was in an 11-3 hole at the break.
The game was more evenly played in the second half when the Terriers (10-5) scored six goals to Dartmouth's five.
Douthett continued her point-scoring streak and improved it to 53 games with two goals and one assist. Senior Jen Pittman (New Canaan, Conn.) led the Big Green offensively with three goals, all in the second half.
The Big Green fell to 8-6 overall and returns to action on Wednesday, May 2, hosting Boston College in a 6 p.m. game at Scully-Fahey Field.
