Michelle Shortsleeve started the first three games last spring before being lost for the season due to a knee injury that required ACL surgery. She had five ground balls against New Hampshire and three against Syracuse. Off the field, Shortsleeve was one of 352 student-athletes chosen to participate in the 2006 NCAA Leadership Conference last spring at Disney's Yacht Beach Club Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. As a freshman, Michelle stepped into a starting role in seven games and came off the bench in 11 others. She is a steady defender who doesn’t make many mistakes. An extremely confident player bringing the ball out of the defensive end, Michelle’s speed and smart play frustrate opponent midfielders. Twice captain of the lacrosse team and a four-year letterwinner, she also played ice hockey, soccer and ran cross country. She was a member of the BB&N squad that won the 1998 national ice hockey championship. A three-time All-League honoree in lacrosse, she was also a New England Prep All-Star.Michelle is majoring in history.
WHAT THE COACHES ARE SAYING ABOUT MICHELLE
“After missing most of last season due to her injury, Michelle should be our defensive anchor this season. She has excellent speed and is very good communicator who has a solid understanding of the game."
