Women's Rowing
vs Gardner Cup
Why Dartmouth?
Dartmouth was the last school I visited. When I heard the bells atop Baker Tower play the Alma Mater at 6pm, I knew Dartmouth was the right school for me. I also really liked the location in a small college town in the mountains and the opportunity to pursue a math/science major in a liberal arts environment.
How long have you been rowing and what got you interested in rowing?
I first got interested in rowing the spring of my senior year of high school when I attended the NCAA Rowing Championships in Oak Ridge, Tenn., about 25 minutes away from my house in Knoxville. I ran cross country and track and swam at the time, and I walked on to the team here at Dartmouth.
Have you won any academic or rowing awards recently?
2009 CRCA (Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association) Scholar Athlete
Tell me something interesting about you that might come as a surprise to your teammates.
Rather than going to the beach for a week like a normal family, my family goes on an educational trip to one of America's National Parks each summer. I've been everywhere from Yosemite to Yellowstone, Acadia to Katmai, Great Smokies to Grand Tetons in search of the perfect family Christmas card.
What are your future plans, if any?
Currently I aspire to be a research scientist. I'm thinking about whether or not to go straight to graduate school in some form of applied or pure mathematics. While I have taken the prerequisites and planned to go, I'm also thinking about working for the government or teaching for a year or two before applying.
