Men's Lightweight Rowing
at Head of the Charles

Q and A with Hank Savage
Why Dartmouth?
I chose Dartmouth for its great academics and the collaborative spirit that
exists in both the classroom and on the lightweight crew team.  The motto at my high school was "A Man
for Others" and I believe that Dartmouth is a further extension of this
  philosophy.
How long have
you been rowing and what got you interested in rowing?
I have been rowing since my freshmen year in high school.  After running cross country in the fall, I
was planning on playing lacrosse in the spring.  I decided to train with the crew team to
stay in shape.  Right out of the gate I
was I was faster than a lot of the other kids on the erg so I decided to give
  freshmen crew a try.
Have you won any
  academic or rowing awards recently?
In 2008, my boat came in 1st Place Stotesbury Cup Regatta, 1st Place Philadelphia Catholic League
Championships, and 1st Place St Andrews Regatta Lightweight 8.  In
2009, my boat won Philadelphia Catholic League Championships and I received the
Men for Others Award for my crew team.

  Tell
me something interesting about you that might come as a surprise to your
  teammates.
  I play the guitar.

  What other
activities do you participate in on campus?
In addition to lightweight rowing, I am a member of the Dartmouth College
  Knights of Columbus.
