Women's Rowing
vs Gardner Cup
Q and A with Megan
Why Dartmouth?
I actually decided that I wanted to go to Dartmouth when I was 9 years old and first visited my cousins at their new house in Hanover. At that age I was in love with the campus and its unparalleled surroundings. Years later on college visits I compared every school to Dartmouth and for me, nowhere else even came close. Dartmouth was also one of the few schools where I felt that I would be equally happy, successful and valued as both a student and an athlete.
How long have you been rowing and what got you interested in rowing?
I have been rowing since the spring of my junior year of high school. I switched from rowing to lacrosse after realizing that running sports were not really my thing. My English teacher at the time, who was the crew coach, suggested that I should try rowing because of my height. Additionally, my cousin and aunt, both former collegiate rowers had long encouraged me to try rowing.
Tell me something interesting about you that might come as a surprise to your teammates.
Jane Goodall is my idol.
What extra curricular activities are you involved with on campus?
I am a Women in Science Program (WISP) intern, which, for me, involves work in a geography lab on campus mapping flood patterns and linking those patterns to changes in access to healthcare. I am also a member of DCGH, Dartmouth Coalition for Global Health. On Sundays I teach ski lessons at the Dartmouth Skiway and play IM hockey on campus.
What are your future plans, if any?
After college I hope to spend time traveling in Africa and South America and perhaps participate in primatology and archaeology work abroad. Eventually I hope to attend medical school.
