Dartmouth Wins Three Against NU, UMass and BU

BOSTON, Mass. – Dartmouth women's rowing headed to Boston on a beautiful Sunday morning to face Northeastern, Boston University and UMass on the Charles River. The Big Green raced in five events, winning three of them.

“I was really impressed by the maturity today's lineups demonstrated,” head coach Linda Muri said. “We still have parts of the race to work on in all of the boats, so we're looking forward to the next three regattas before the championship season begins."

In the varsity 8+, Dartmouth (6:36.9) held off strong charges at the end of the race by BU and UMass, but could not quite catch up to Northeastern (6:31.6). Dartmouth's second varsity (6:46.6) was able to hang onto the Minutewomen (6:43.8) but again, could not keep up with the Huskies (6:39.6). The Terriers finished well behind the Green with a time of 6:53.5.

The varsity 4+ and second varsity 4+ both went in Dartmouth's favor. In the varsity, there were just four and a half seconds between the Big Green in first with a 7:37.4 and the Huskies in third with a time of 7:42.1. In the second varsity, Dartmouth (7:41.3) completed the course just ahead of Northeastern (7:43.7), but there was a larger gap between the Huskies' A crew and their B boat (8:03.8).

In the final event of the day, the third varsity 8+, the story of the race was, once again, about how close the final results were. Dartmouth picked up its third win (7:21.6) and was followed a mere four tenths of a second later by UMass (7:22.0).

On Saturday, April 23, the Big Green will head to New Jersey to face Princeton, Penn and Bucknell.
